Publish an Update

This guide is for staff. It shows how you turn reviewed work into a published changelog update. Members do not do these steps.

At the end, one app shows a new update. Linked offers are accepted. Linked reports are fixed. The submitters are credited as contributors.

Prerequisites

• You are NUU staff. The queue and the changelog editor are hidden if you are not.
• The app already exists in NUU Experience.
• You know which offers and reports this update resolves. Review them in the queue first.

Review the queue

Open the queue in NUU Experience. Switch between offers and reports. Filter by app and by state.

Open a row. Move it only along the allowed path. See About States.

Queue an offer you plan to ship. Confirm a report you can reproduce. Do not accept or fix yet if you want publish to do that move for you. Publish accepts linked queued offers. Publish fixes linked open or confirmed reports.

Start a draft

Open the staff changelog list. Create a new update.

Choose the app. Write a title. You can add a version. Set the ship date. The date cannot be in the future. Write an intro if the update needs a short lead.

Add sections. Give a section a heading when the group needs a name. Add changes under it. Each change needs a kind and a short line. The kinds are added, changed, fixed, and removed.

Save the draft. The app changelog does not show it yet.

Link the work

On each change, link the offers and reports that this line resolves.

You can link offers that are queued or accepted. You can link reports that are open, confirmed, or fixed. They must belong to the same app. One submission can link to only one change.

The preview shows the contributors those links create. Staff can also name other people as contributors.

If a row is already linked on another update, the service refuses the second link.

Publish

Publish the update when the preview is right.

The update becomes published. That app changelog then shows it, newest ship date first.

At the same time:

• each linked queued offer becomes accepted
• each linked open or confirmed report becomes fixed
• each of those rows records this update and this change

People who sent those rows now appear as contributors on the public update. See Read the Changelog.

If you need to pull it back, unpublish. The update becomes a draft again. The app stops showing it. Linked rows keep the states they already have.
