Core Ideas

NUU Experience uses a small set of nouns. Learn these first. The rest of the product is how these nouns move.

An offer is a suggestion. You send it from a NUU app when you want something to be better. A new offer starts in the pending state.

A report is a bug report. You send it from a NUU app when something went wrong. A new report starts in the open state.

A submission is an offer or a report. Use this word when the same idea applies to both.

A state is where a submission stands. Offers and reports use different states. Staff move a submission from one state to the next. Some states are final. See About States.

A changelog update is one published story of what changed in one app. Staff write it. The app then shows it in its own changelog. See About Changelog Updates.

A section is one part of an update. It can have a heading, a body of text, and a list of changes.

A change is one atomic line in a section. It has a kind. The kinds are added, changed, fixed, and removed. A change can link the offers and reports it resolves.

A contributor is a person credited on an update. The usual contributors are the people who sent the linked offers and reports. The changelog shows a name and a picture. It does not show an email.

How the nouns relate

You send a submission from a NUU app. The submission belongs to that app. It has a title, a body, and a state. It can also carry a picture of the page and a record of where you were.

Staff review submissions in a queue. They move states. When work ships, they write a changelog update for that app. The update has sections. Each section has changes.

A change can link submissions of the same app. One submission can link to at most one change. When staff publish the update, linked offers that were queued become accepted. Linked reports that were open or confirmed become fixed.

The app then shows the published update. Each linked submitter appears as a contributor on that change, with the role offered or reported.

Two places, one loop

You send and you read in the NUU app you already use. You follow your own rows in NUU Experience. Staff write and publish in NUU Experience. The published update returns to the app.

Do not mix these places. The account menu in an app is how you send and how you open that app changelog. NUU Experience is how you see your list, and how staff run the queue.
