About Offers and Reports

An offer and a report look similar. Both have a title, a body, an app, a person, and a state. They are not the same thing. Use an offer when you want a change. Use a report when something is broken.

What you send

Both forms ask for a short title and the details. The title names the idea or the problem in one line. The body explains it.

A report also sends where you were in the app. The page address goes with the report even if you do not type it. An offer can send the same page record. The report form treats this as part of the bug.

You can attach a picture of the page. A report includes a picture by default. An offer does not. You can turn the picture on or off before you send. If the picture cannot be taken or cannot be stored, the text still goes.

You must be signed in. The service records you as the person who sent the submission. Other people do not send in your name.

What you see later

NUU Experience keeps your own offers in one list and your own reports in another. Each list shows the title, the app, the state, and the time you sent it. You can filter by app or by state. You can search by title.

Open a row to read the full record. You see the body. You see the picture if one arrived. You see the state. If staff accepted an offer, you see the acceptance. If staff fixed a report, you see the resolution and the changelog update that holds it. If staff marked a report as a duplicate, you see that link.

You can also leave a comment on your own row. Staff can reply there when they look at it.

You do not see other people's submissions. Staff see every row in the queue.

Why two kinds

The two kinds keep the queue honest. A suggestion is a request for a better product. A bug is a claim that the product is wrong today. Staff move them on different paths. See About States.

The two kinds also keep the changelog honest. A change that ships an idea links offers. A change that repairs a defect links reports. Contributors then show as offered or reported, not as a mixed label.

What a submission belongs to

Every submission belongs to one app. That app is the one you were using when you sent it. Staff cannot attach it to a different app later as a casual edit. A changelog update also belongs to one app. A change can only link submissions of that same app.

This is why you send from inside the app. The app names itself. You do not pick a destination.
