Create an Organisation
This guide shows you how to create a team organisation. At the end you have a private team with you as owner.
Prerequisites
- You have a NUU account.
- You are signed in to NUU Organisations.
- You know the name you want.
- You have a short slug in mind. The slug must be unique.
You do not create a personal organisation. The service already created one for you. See Personal and Team Organisations.
Open your organisation list
Sign in. Open the place where you manage organisations. You see your personal organisation first. Team organisations follow, if you have any.
Pending invitations, if you have them, appear above the list. You can accept those later. They are not required to create a new organisation.
Choose a name and a slug
Start a new organisation. Enter a name. Enter a slug.
The name is what people see. Keep it short enough to read in a list.
The slug is the short display name. Use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens. Do not start or end with a hyphen. If the slug is taken, pick another. If the slug is not valid, change it until it is.
Treat the slug as set at creation. Choose it with care. See Identity and Slug.
Create it
Confirm the create step.
The service creates the organisation. It also creates a stable identity that never changes. You become the owner. The organisation is private. It has no public page yet.
The new organisation appears in your list. Open it. You see an empty members list with you on it.
What you have now
You have a team organisation that only members can see. You can invite people. You can edit the public fields without turning the page on. You can leave the organisation private for as long as you need.
You cannot invite people into your personal organisation. If the work is shared, use this new team organisation.
Next Steps
- Invite people and set roles. See Invite Members and Set Roles.
- Fill the public fields and turn the page on when you are ready. See Make Your Organisation Public.
- Read Core Ideas if you want the nouns behind these steps.
