Share a Mesh with Collaborators
This guide shows how to give another person a role on a live mesh. At the end an invitation is sent, and you know how that person joins.
Prerequisites
- You own the mesh, or you are an admin on it.
- You have a connection. Sharing does not queue offline.
- The other person has a NUU account, or they can create one before they accept.
- Read About Sharing and Publication if roles are new.
Open sharing for the mesh
You can share from home on a mesh row, or from the open workspace. Sharing lists the current collaborators and their roles. It also shows invitations that are still pending or declined.
Choose a role
Decide what the person should be able to do.
- Choose admin if they must invite others and manage roles.
- Choose editor if they must write documents and not manage sharing.
- Choose read-only if they must read and not write.
You cannot invite someone as owner. The owner is the person who created the mesh.
Send the invitation
Enter the person's email and send the invitation with the role you chose. The row stays pending until they act. Pending means they do not have access yet.
If you sent the wrong role, change it on the row after they join, or remove the invitation and send again. You cannot change your own role.
Accept from home
Tell the person to sign in and open home. Home lists invitations to their account. They accept or decline there.
Accept adds the mesh to their list with the granted role. They open it like any other mesh. Decline removes the invitation. You will see declined status on your sharing list.
If they already own the mesh, accept is refused. The invitation is then gone.
Work together
Editors and admins write in the same documents. Presence shows who is on a page. If two writes collide, each person chooses which copy to keep. See Core Ideas.
A read-only collaborator can open documents, follow wikilinks, and use raw mode. They do not see writing actions in the command palette.
If you remove a person, they lose access. If their session is still in the mesh, the workspace sends them home.
Leave or stop sharing
A collaborator can leave the mesh from home. Leave does not delete documents. Only the owner can delete the mesh. Delete asks you to type the name. It removes the mesh for everyone.
