Media
Media/ is the asset layer of a Flint. It holds the files that support the work but do not fit Markdown form.
Overview
Every new Flint gets a Media/ folder next to Mesh/. It is part of the content layer. Typical contents include images, screenshots, PDFs, diagrams, and recordings.
The Mesh stays readable because it holds only Markdown. Media files stay close by in Media/. A Mesh note references a media file with a link. The note carries the meaning. The media file carries the raw asset.
The Obsidian payload of the Flint sets the attachment folder of the vault to Media/. When you paste or drop a file into a note in Obsidian, the file goes to Media/.
What Belongs in Media
Put a file in Media/ when it supports the knowledge of the Flint but is not Markdown. Examples:
- images embedded in Mesh notes
- screenshots from reviews
- PDFs and reference documents
- diagrams and attachments
- audio and video recordings
Keep copied external material in Sources/ instead. See Sources for that rule. Keep active repository checkouts in Workspace/Repos/. See Workspace for that rule.
Working Pattern
Keep the file in Media/. Keep the explanation in Mesh/.
In practice:
Media/stores the raw assetMesh/stores the note that interprets, links, or explains it
This split keeps the Flint readable for people and agents. It also keeps the supporting material in a predictable place.
